  • How Different Are You And Your SO?

They say that opposites attract, but at a certain point I'd assume that two people would have absolutely nothing in common and therefore not much to talk about. Still, dating a clone of yourself is not exactly very interesting either. One of the things I love about my boyfriend is the fact that we have just enough in common. We are both interested in science, but while he is a total electricity geek I'm fascinated by the inner workings of genetics and floral development. We both are into heavier (not pop) music, but while he's been a diehard Metallica fan for a decade at least, I'm more likely to enjoy some Linkin Park. I've found that having things in common, but having enough differences to give a couple things to discuss is key.

  • How Often Do You Say "I Love You"?

So about a month and a half ago my boyfriend told me he loves me. This is a pretty big deal for me because I haven't had the greatest luck with relationships in the past, and because just around the same time I realized I was in love with him and it was such a relief to hear those three words unprovoked from him. Just for some context, this is the first person I've ever heard those words from and the first person I've ever said it to. Now, having been together for over three months officially at this point I am starting to wonder how often do you say I love you?

We usually say it at least a couple times a day, most importantly for me is when we go to sleep at night. It just lights up my heart when he wraps his arms around me and tells me he loves me and he hopes I sleep well. Although I'm not necessarily worried about saying it too often, I don't want to seem insecure either but saying it too much as if I need constant reassurance that yes, he still loves me.

So I admit I'm curious if it changes over time and people in longer relationships feel the need to reaffirm their love less often. Therefore my question is, how long have you and your SO been together, and how often do you say "I love you"?

  • What is the most creative date you've ever been on?

One of the things I've hated about dating is the repetitiveness of it. Dinner, movie, rinse, repeat. That's why I was so excited to stumble across this article "Very Definitely Not Dinner and A Movie". The article suggests 50 creative date ideas, including a sugarhigh date (who knows what you'll do once you've had your fill of cheap sweetness) and pretending to be tourists.

Some of my more creative dates with my current boyfriend include a spontaneous bonfire on the beach and a trip to get ice cream / visit the attached petting zoo. Planned for the near future are a picnic with fake sparkling champagne.

  • Inspired by the many comments on my post (now on Datingish homepage!) I've decided to wait. I do think I'm in love, or falling in love, but I don't know that I'd ever get over the initial insecurity of having said it first. Also, I mean, if you feel it, why rush saying it. We both know that we mean a lot to each other, and that's what matters.

  • How soon is too soon?

So I've been official with my boyfriend for almost two months now, although we have been friends for a few months longer than that. Although when we initially met I was seeing somebody else, I have never been as happy as I am with him. We hang out daily, can talk about pretty much everything, and have all kinds of fun and random adventures. Basically, it's a dream.

Having never been in a 'serious' relationship before, I'm not sure exactly what love would feel like. I think I am in love with him, but I don't know if it is a faux-pas for a girl to say it first? He's naturally quite shy, so I'm not sure if he feels the same way (I think he does) but is afraid to speak up. I'd be willing to say it first, but I don't want to be doing it too early.

How soon did you and your SO say those three words? How soon is too soon?
